Bethesda Game Studios, which has developed the Elder Scrolls games since Morrowind, recently posted a new job. This job in particular is for a Character Artist, who would work for the studio in Rockville, MD.
The job requirements are as follows:
Excellent fine art skills (sketch work and/or 3D concept work).
Excellent modeling and texturing skills.
Experience with Zbrush, 3D Studio Max and Photoshop.
Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts, Graphic Arts, or 3D Design a plus.
Knowledge of Role Playing games and The Elder Scrolls or Fallout a plus.
Game industry experience a plus.
The fifth point particularly caught our attention. This position is for an artist who will work on the characters and creatures in Bethesda Game Studios’ games, and they’re particularly interested in someone familiar with RPGs and The Elder Scrolls or Fallout.
Fallout 4 is already out, and while they could need a character artist to work on content for Fallout 4’s future DLC, it makes more sense that they need someone for their next game. What game could it be other than The Elder Scrolls 6?
Keep in mind that this job is specifically for Bethesda Game Studios, so it can’t be for The Elder Scrolls Online (which is developed by ZeniMax Online Studios) or The Elder Scrolls Legends (which is being developed by Dire Wolf Digital). These games only share the same publisher and parent company as the main-series Elder Scrolls games. However, Bethesda Game Studios also developed the mobile Fallout 4 tie-in game, Fallout Shelter, so there is no guarantee they are focusing exclusively on a main-series Fallout or Elder Scrolls title.
Admittedly, this is a stretch, but could we have seen one of the first clues that The Elder Scrolls 6 is in progress? Perhaps we’ll learn more at E3.
While this doesn’t tell us much, at the very least it’s an excellent opportunity for any character artists who are interested in working for the game developer behind The Elder Scrolls and Fallout.
